Metacognitive Assignments to Learn Business Communications

Metacognition is a learning capacity that entails goal-orientation, self-awareness, and empathy.

Being goal-oriented requires us to be cognizant and focused on something we are trying to attain. Starting your workday with a main goal in mind and one or two subgoals that will move you toward that main goal requires us to make note of and keep track of steps we take along the way.

Remaining self-aware as you move throughout your workday situations/scenarios, being able to recognize your feelings and the resulting behaviors of those feelings gives you the opportunity to make decisions about how your behavior will help you move toward or away from your goals. We also must pay attention to others in our codependent spaces.

Empathy is the ability to recognize how others may be feeling. This gives insight into how to communicate with them so together you can accomplish your common objectives. Being a keen observer of your own and other’s actions is an important skill that improves self-regulation and emotional intelligence.
