We’re not only here for the beauty

We are here for the battle as well

We are here for the splendour, the glitz and the majesty

Above all to defend the weakness and vulnerable tendencies

Of our humanness and our giftedness

And the jewels encrusted in the eyes of our children

The joy to sooth the glare of confounded pathetic stares and flares

The rash irrations too meager and brief

The pomp but empty toasts from the least

Deserving the most

Not just to bask and to revel

But to defiantly reject and deny

anything less than truth - Gaille Hunter
